Michelangelo took on one of the most ambitious artistic feats in history when painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. With little help and immense pressure, was driven by deep faith and a desire to glorify God. He transformed biblical stories into a masterpiece of staggering scale and beauty that still lives on today. But the triumph came at a cost that left him physically broken and spiritually drained. Renaissance: The Blood and the Beauty reveals the tortured secrets behind the making of the Sistine Chapel.

The BBC’s Walking With Dinosaurs team brought many dinosaurs to life across the series - but perhaps the largest challenge was one of the biggest dinosaurs to ever be found in Europe… Lusotitan. Join the team behind the scenes as they weave cutting edge science, expert VFX, and a very experienced crew pointing their cameras at… nothing. But not everything is as it seems because the team are actually filming shots which (when they are later added) will see dinosaurs dance across the screen. All of this comes together to breathe life into these ancient behemoths and bring their stories to the screen.

Pompeii: The New Dig
The series follows the biggest archaeological excavation in Pompeii for a generation. Exciting discoveries and fresco-inspired animations tell the story of life in Pompeii AD 79. It also imagines the horrors faced by resident as Vesuvius erupted. Stream now: https://to.pbs.org/3ysvubQ
The excavation aims to unearth the buildings, their purpose, who lived there, and what happened to them during the eruption. Alongside the present tense story of the dig, the series investigates the timeline of the eruption. From the violent earthquakes that shook the city in the years before the eruption to the day of the disaster, Vesuvius first slowly buries Pompeii and then delivers the killer blows in the form of pyroclastic flows.
And, for the first time, pioneering new research finds hard evidence that some Pompeiians escaped the city and survived the eruption. From evidence hidden in Pompeii’s storeroom of prominent Pompeiians, the investigation discovers inscriptions that date from after the eruption and bear the same name in the area surrounding the destroyed city.
Combining their personal accounts with archive footage, "Atomic People" features a number of voices from some of the only people left on Earth to have survived a nuclear bomb.

Atomic People
In August 1945, the United States dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. 118,000 people died immediately; by the end of the year, that number would rise to 210,000 across both cities. 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the moments when those bombs changed millions of lives across multiple generations — and survivors still feel the impacts.
In “Atomic People” on PBS, you’ll get a first-hand look at what it felt like to be in Japan on those fateful days. You’ll hear about the fear, suffering and health effects of the atomic bombs, but also the resilience and survival that defined a nation. These are the stories of the Hibakusha — people impacted by the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

T. rex and Triceratops were both alive at the moment an asteroid collided with Earth 66 million years ago, but was that really what killed them? In the rocks across Montana, a mysterious layer was found that creates a boundary that separates dinosaur skeletons from the new creatures and worlds that arose after the impact. Within this layer are tiny fragments of the asteroid itself, but these remnants alone would not have been capable of wiping out the dinosaurs. Now, a new theory may shed light on how one of Earth’s most iconic creatures met their end.
